A Final Lecture was held for Professor Jun Takeda, who will retire on March 31, 2025.

Titled "The Principle of Existence: The World of Materials Science Illuminated by Ultrashort Light Pulses," Professor Takeda shared his journey from his early life to his research at Yokohama National University, incorporating humor throughout. Particularly notable was his discussion on collaborations with graduate students and staffs, as well as international joint research efforts with institutions such as MIT, Caltech etc.

Professor Takeda has been at the forefront of ultrafast spectroscopy using ultrashort pulse lasers since its early days, actively adopting cutting-edge research techniques. In recent years, he has achieved significant advancements in fields such as single-shot spectroscopy and terahertz scanning tunneling microscopy. Toward the end of the lecture, he spoke about his enthusiasm for continuing research, leaving the audience inspired.

Following a lively Q&A session, a bouquet was presented to Professor Takeda in gratitude for his outstanding contributions to education and research.
